Stressed? You are or you will be!

First reports on the new style Ofsted inspections in the UK suggest that more schools are not coming up to the expected standard.
The new style inspections, giving only two days notice before the inspectors arrive, leads to severe stress for all staff in any school where an inspection is pending.
What does “pending” mean – it means quite simply that any school not yet inspected under the new arrangements can expect to be inspected at any time.
You could go to work on Monday and be OK, go on Tuesday and find that the inspectors are due on Thursday. How stressful is that?
Very!
As a member of Senior Management during 3 old style Ofsted inspections before my retirement I can say quite categorically that far from being the “enormous help” that some claimed them to be they were nothing more than an a quite severe ordeal during which nerves were stretched to breaking point in an effort to get things right for a team of inspectors who literally looked into every cupboard as well as watching people teach and talking to everyone including lunchtime supervisory assistants.
Will the new regime be less intimidating?
Is it less intimidating?
Is it, as Ofsted would have us believe, sharper?
Views please.
